Club Notes
16th April 2023
TANSEY CUP
Well done to our adult men who had a
convincing win over Oran on Sunday last. Next up is a visit to Kilteevan on
Saturday to play St Joseph's, throw-in at 6pm.
SCÓR NA nÓG CONNACHT FINALS
Well done to our county Scór na nÓg
champions from St Michael's who represented Roscommon excellently in the
Connacht Finals in Ballinasloe on Sunday. Our Instrumental Music Group of
Brianna, Rachel & Ronan Guckian, and Caitlyn & Eabha Simon
performed beautifully but were pipped by Mayo in a high standard competition.
Thanks to all who travelled to support our group and especially to Stephen
McGuinness for sponsoring commemorative tops for the occasion. Thanks also to
our cultural officer, Geraldine McMorrow, and to Anne Marie Harte for their
tireless promotion of Scór participation in the club. Congratulations to St
Dominic's Novelty Group and Solo Singer (Gemma Casey) and all the Connacht
winners - best wishes for the All Ireland!
Community Games
Due to unforeseen circumstances the sports day
has to be changed from Sunday 30th April to Monday 1st May at 4pm. If you want to register your child please
message Agnes 086-8761457 child's name, date of birth and events they are
taking part in.
UNDERAGE BOYS
The St Michaels/St Ronans under 16 Division 1 boys
hosted a strong Castlerea team in Ardcarne Park on Monday. On a difficult
evening for football, an understrength home side competed well for the hour,
with a late burst of scores sealing victory for the visitors. The Division 4
team played away to Kilmore-Shannon Gaels on Friday evening. The boys built a
good lead early in the second half but a strong fightback by the hosts took the
honours. Full time: Kilmore-Shannon Gaels 5-9 St Michael's-St Ronan's 4-8.
Meanwhile the under 14 boys made an unsuccessful
trip to Castlerea on Thursday losing out by 4-8 to 2-5.
This week, the u16 Boys have a Division 1 game on
Monday against Roscommon Gaels in Ballyfarnon, and a Division 4 game on Friday
against Oran-St Croan's in Ardcarne Park, both due to throw-in at 7.30pm.
Meanwhile the u14 boys host Oran on Tuesday in Ardcarne Park at 7.30pm (TBC)
and our u18 Boys play Tulsk away on Wednesday at 7.30pm. Best of luck to all
our teams.
LGFA
Well done to The Saints U 15 girls who won the 2b Feile Final on Easter Monday
CONNACHT MINOR CHAMPIONSHIP
Roscommon minors had a tough opening game in the provincial championship last week. Well done to Ruadhán Henry who marked his performance with a fine score. It doesn't get any easier this week when a visit to reigning All-Ireland Minor champions Galway is on the menu! We wish the best of luck to Ruadhan and Shane O'Dowd and all the Roscommon under 17 panel and management.
