2nd October 2022

Academy

The 2022 St Michael’s underage academy (U5 -U11) came to a conclusion on Friday evening 30th September. Afterwards we had medal presentations, goody bags and a winter skills booklet presented to each child. Huge thanks to all the coaches who were fantastic all year. Thank you to the parents who supported and to Agnes and Francis Dowd who sponsored the Goody Bags and Kevin Guckian who prepared the skills booklet. It was brilliant to see the massive improvement in skills and the smiles on their faces, the future is bright!

G4M&O

Gaelic 4 Mothers & Others would like to once again sincerely thank everyone who supported the table quiz held recently in Clancy's Bar. Our plan at the start of organising the quiz was to raise enough money to cover the cost of our Jerseys. We also hoped we would raise enough to purchase new equipment. The total amount raised was €3380. So along with having a great night's fun and enjoyment we have also ensured that we can keep the Mother's and others going well into the future. Anyone interested in joining us please do so, we look forward to seeing new faces for fun, fitness and football.

JUNIOR A CHAMPIONSHIP QUARTER FINAL

All roads led to Ballyleague on Sunday afternoon as our men took on Padraig Pearses in the Junior A Championship quarter final. An opening point from play inside sixty seconds was the start we were hoping for, but two points in reply from the south Roscommon side saw them take the lead in the fifth minute. They led by 4pts to 1pt by the end of the first quarter as our lads had no luck in front of goal. Scores were just as hard to come by in the second quarter with a Pearses goal looking decisive. Half-time: Padraig Pearses 1-6  St Michael's 3pts. The men from Ardcarne produced a battling performance in the second period but found their momentum punctured by a Pearses penalty goal midway through the half, and another deciding three-pointer near the end. Full-time: Padraig Pearses 3-9  St Michael's 10pts. Commiserations to the players and management who had no luck on the day. We thank them for the tremendous effort they put in this year. They played some excellent football and gave lots of enjoyment to our supporters.

JUNIOR B CHAMPIONSHIP

Hard luck to our Junior B team who suffered an agonising one-point defeat to Padraig Pearses in Ardcarne Park on Saturday afternoon.
