Gaelic 4 Mothers and Others
Best of luck to
the Gaelic Mother's & Others team who will participate in the Gaelic
for Mother's & Others competition in Portmarnock next Saturday. A wonderful
opportunity for this fabulous group of women.
*UNDERAGE:*
It was another busy week for the St Michaels/St Ronans
underage players with all teams in action and some more than once!
On Wednesday an understrength u13 side lost away
to Strokestown. Their next outing is at home in Ardcarne Park to Castlerea on
Sunday 4th Sept.
The u17s had their first game in nearly a month on
Wednesday when they were involved in a typically competitive championship
contest with a strong Tulsk side who took the spoils on a 2-9 to 1-8 scoreline.
Hopefully they will have better luck next Wednesday 31st against Kilglass
Gaels/St Barry's in Ballyfarnon at 7.30pm.
On Friday, the
u15 boys produced the performance of the week when they played
Elphin-Ballinameen in the Division 1 championship in Orchard Park. The lads
took the initiative from the off and held a commanding 3-7 to 1pt lead at the
interval after thirty minutes of disciplined committed defence and efficient
attacking play. The second half was just as keenly-contested with the home side
eager to reduce the deficit but the visitors wouldn't be denied. Full-time:
Elphin-Ballinameen 0-8 St Michael's-St Ronan's 4-13.The u15 boys were in action again within 48 hours
when Padraig Pearses made the trip to Ardcarne Park on Sunday afternoon for a
double-header of games between the sides in Division 1 and Division 4. Fatigue
appeared to have taken its toll as the fresher visitors forged a decisive
half-time lead of 2-7 to 3pts in the Division 1 clash. The home side
fought valiantly after the break but the damage was done. Full-time: St
Michael's-St Ronan's 0-8 Padraig Pearses 4-9.
The Division 4 game that followed was a very
entertaining affair. The home team showed great skill and teamwork and were
deserving winners after an exciting finish to the match. Full-time: St
Michael's-St Ronan's 4-7 Padraig Pearses 3-7. Well done to the boys who
have shown great improvement throughout the season and many thanks to their
coaches for assisting their development.

an encouraging performance and there's lots still to look forward to for this
group.
