LADIES CHAMPIONSHIP
Our adult ladies team hosted Kilbride
junior ladies in Ardcarne Park on Friday evening last in their latest
championship game. The visitors started brightly and dominated possession in
the first quarter but only put 2pts on the scoreboard thanks to some diligent
defence from the home side. Two quick points midway through the half levelled
the game and our girls then received a massive confidence boost with a goal.
However Kilbride responded well to the setback and the teams were tied at the
interval, St Michael's-St Ronan's 1-3 Kilbride 6pts. When play resumed, the
home team seized the initiative. They moved into the lead with four fine points
from play, and followed that with two excellent goals. The visitors never gave
up and rattled off a number of points to reduce the deficit but couldn't find
their way to our net. After an excellent team performance a championship win
was secured on a final score of St Michael's-St Ronan's 4-8 Kilbride
11pts. Congratulations to all the players and their management on a deserved
result.

UNDERAGE
The St Michaels/St Ronans under 13

when they were pipped by the slimmest of margins, losing 3-4 to 1-9 to Kilglass
Gaels/St Barry's.
Their next game is at 7.15pm on
Wednesday 24th away to Strokestown.
The under 15 Division 4 team produced
another game performance on Sunday morning in Kilglass before losing out by

JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP
We welcomed Ballinameen to Ardcarne
Park on Sunday afternoon for the 2nd round of the Junior A Championship. St
Michael's were quick out of the blocks and led by 4pts to 1pt after ten
minutes. The visitors settled and as halftime approached the gap was down to
1pt. However, a point from play, quickly followed by an excellently worked team
goal left the scoreline at the break reading St Michael's 1-7 Ballinameen 5pts.
It was the visitors who made the hot
start to the second period reducing their deficit to a single point within
three minutes, 1-8 to 1-7. Both teams gave their all with play swinging from
end to end for the next ten minutes and defences getting on top as the
excitement level increased among the sizeable appreciative crowd. Eventually it
was the home team who got the scoreboard moving again in their favour with
three points in as many minutes creating some breathing space. Points were
traded in the final quarter and just a goal separated the sides as normal time
elapsed. Our boys remained calm in the closing stages and picked off three late
scores to clinch the win. Full-time: St Michael's 1-16 Ballinameen 1-10.
Well done to the panel and management
on another good performance. A big thank you to those who answered the call for
stewards, lotto sellers and to Sean O’Hara
for use of his field for additional parking. It was much needed and greatly
appreciated.
The next championship game is on
Friday 2nd September away to Boyle.
