Underage

St Michael's - St Ronan's Under 15 boys opened their Division 1 championship campaign on Monday evening away to Kilmore/Shannon Gaels. Our boys held a one point advantage after an evenly contested first half where defences had the upper hand. The home side pulled ahead in the third quarter but only a point separated the sides as normal time elapsed. However, an injury time point followed by a goal clinched the spoils for the home team on a 2-10 to 1-8 scoreline.

The coming week sees the St Michaels/St Ronans Under 15 boys play St Faithleach's away on Tuesday 26th at 7.30pm in the Division 4 championship and play Roscommon Gaels away on Friday at 7.15pm in the Division 1 championship.

The under 13 boys travel to Tulsk on Thursday 28th to take on the home side at 6.30pm.

Our Under 17 boys host Western Gaels in Ardcarne Park on Saturday 30th at 7pm.

St Michael's under 20s play their second championship game in Tulsk at 8.30pm on Tuesday 26th.

Best of luck to all teams.

Sponsorship

St Michaels and St Ronans GAA Clubs are in the second year of combined underage football and this year took the step of designing a jersey that reflected both clubs rather than alternate the individual club jerseys as we did last year.

It was initially hoped that we would be able to get one or even two sets of jerseys sponsored but the response from local businesses was so supportive that we were able to 100% finance four sets of jerseys from sponsorship, kitting out all our combined teams U11, U13, U15 and U17.

We thank our main sponsors, Gusclad Ltd, Boyle Credit Union, Alderford Interiors and Carrick Furniture World/Wholesale Furniture as well as our sleeve sponsors Boyle Motor Works, Paul Martin QFA RPA - Financial Advisor and Coen Haulage.

We have seen a big improvement on the pitch across all teams over the past year and hope for some success very soon, but to be honest success has already been achieved by the fact that two old neighbouring GAA foes have set aside any rivalry to develop underage players from both clubs and give everyone the opportunity to play the game, keeping it strong within our communities.

It has been great to get to know all the players and see the lads we've known for years playing with new friends. All our coaches have given 100% commitment and are the backbone of making it a success.

Our officials are working hard together behind the scenes, getting on really well and looking with optimism to the future of both clubs.
