Weekly Update

This week a big Congratulations to our U10 Footballers who were successful in winning the Kevin Hanley Cup at the Kilglass U10 Football Tournament on Saturday last, the 12th of October 2013 at Kilgass. This is a great achievement by a very committed and talented group of players and indicated a bright future for the Club. The U10 Team panel was as follows; S. Moran, G. Corcoran, A.Guckian, C. Guckian, B. O Connor, C. Burke, O. Charles, J. Lane, B. Monaghan, L. Kearns, K. Keavney, A. Tiernan, R. Henry, E. Oates, A. Harte, N. Mc Glynn, R. Henry, J. Oates and R. Lane. The Management Team was Vernon Keavney, Michael Henry, Kevin Guckian and Sean Farrell. A big thank you to the Players, Management Team, Parents and Supporters who travelled to Kilglass on Saturday last in this latest success for the Club. As stated in last weeks note, the U14 Girls Team were defeat by Strokestown in the Semi Final of the U14 Ladies Div 3 Championship, which was played on Saturday, the 5th of October 2013 at Strokestown. This was the first year for the Club to field an U14 Girls Team and it was a great achievement to reach the Semi Finals. The Team was as follows; 1. Ruby Vincent, 2. Maebh Duignan, 3. Michaela Deane, 4. Noelle Martin, 5. Cara Clancy, 6. Eimear Dowd, 7. Roisin Coppieters, 8 Asling Bruen, 9. Ruth Flynn, 10. Ciara McHugh, 11. Jessica Fearon, 12. Lara Bruen, 13. Myriam Daly, 14. Sarah Smyth, 15. Edel Gallagher Subs Caroline Doyle, Sharon Burke, Anna Corcoran, Tara Early and Leanne Hennessy, missing on the day was Sadie Farrell and Aibhe Gaffney, Alana Noone(unable to play due to injury). A big thank you to also thank Aileen Daly for all her hard work with the Ladies Teams and to Angela Moran, Anthony Dowd and Tommy Daly, who managed the Girls Teams this year. It shows a bright future for ladies football in the Club. The U21 Championship game on Sunday last where St Michael's were to play Kilbride in Rocommon Div 3 U21 Championship was cancelled and is now fixed for Sunday next at Orchard Park, Elphin at 11.30 am. The Lotto draw is in The Watersplash Bar, Cootehall on Sunday next, the 20th of October 2013 for a Jackpot of € 8,200.00. On Saturday last, the 12th of October 2013, St Michael's GAA Club launched their Annual Monster Fuel Draw for 2013, which took place at Ardcarne Park GAA Grounds, Cootehall. The draw this year again will be bigger and will be offering Great Prizes to be won, total value estimated at €2,000.00. The Draw has Five Great Prizes to be won, total value estimated at €2,000.00. First Prize is a Large Tractor Trailer Load of Quality Firewood, Firewood donated by Joe Tansey of Greenbelt. Second Prize is 500 Liters of Home Heating Oil, sponsored by Stewarts Oil, Boyle. Third Prize is 80 Bales of Peat Briquettes sponsored by Bord na Mona. Fourth Prize is 500kg of Coal, sponsored by Arigna Fuels, Arigna. Fifth Prize is a Boiler Service, sponsored by Shane Malone, Ballyfermoyle. The Tractor Trailer Load of Quality Firewood was prepared voluntarily by our members with equipment assistance from East Bros, Boyle. The Club would like to thank all sponsors and those who attended the launch of the Draw. The Draw takes place on Saturday night, 9th of November in Beirnes of Battlebridge. Draw entry is €2 per line or 3 lines for €5 or 8 lines for €10 and can be purchased from outlets through out the Club Area or any Club member. The proceeds of this Draw is going to the day to day running of the Club. Please support. The Quarter Finals of Scór na Óg will take place on the 15th and 16th of November 2013 in Dangan Community Centre, Kilmore and Kilmurry Hall, Tulsk. Anyone who wishes to enter in any of the events can contact any Club Officer. The events for participating in Scór na Óg are; figure dancing, set dancing, solo singing, instrumental music, ballad group and recitation. In the U12 summer League, The Red Team have matches outstanding. Check fixtures for details of these games. Training for U21, U12 Boys and U12 and U14 Girls during the week. Coaches will notify. The U11 Keenan Cup and Shane Beirne Shield competitions are still to be played. Congratulations to the members from the Club's catchment area, who were part of the Shannon Gaels Ladies Junior Football Team, who won the County Junior A Ladies Championship Final in the past few weeks and now have reached Connacht Junior Final against Louisburgh from Co. Mayo in a few weeks time.
