This years Fuel Draw was officially launched on Monday evening last. In order to meet our budgetary commitments in St. Michael's, we really need make this draw as successful as possible. Many people are surprised and indeed curious to learn that the day to day running costs of the club are close to €40,000 annually. It's a challenging figure, but largely unavoidable, and much less than that of most other GAA clubs. Fixed charges, such as insurance, affiliation, field maintenance, playing gear and equipment and normal domestic charges make up much of the expenses. Without the great voluntary effort of many people, we could not continue.
This draw is one of our most important sources of income. In light of the difficult times we are in, our committee have put extra emphasis on putting together very attractive prizes, making this an exceptional draw. We appeal to all our members, supporters and friends to promote and support as best you can. If you feel you can sell an extra card or know someone else who may, please let us know. All help and support will be important and appreciated.
We owe a great debt of gratitude to our prize sponsors, Joe Tansey from Greenbelt, Stewarts Oil, Bord na Móna, Arigna Fuels, Shane Malone and East Brothers. The following pictures were taken at the launch. Click on the first image to view all.
