UNDER 14 BOYS WIN LEAGUE FINAL

St Michael's-St Ronan's u14 Boys grabbed the limelight this week with two remarkable performances that propelled them from semi-final outsiders to league champions!

Tuesday saw them make the journey to Ballinameen for a semi-final tie against Elphin-Ballinameen. The home team led by a goal at the interval but a determined 2nd half performance from the visitors secured a place in the final. Full-time:  St Michael's-St Ronan's 3-8  Elphin-Ballinameen 3-4.

Frenchpark was the venue on Sunday evening for the Division 3 League Final against table-toppers Castlerea. The boys from the north of the county were quick off the mark and two goals from Sean Henry in the first ten minutes helped them to a comfortable 11pt advantage at half-time, 2-5 to nil. The boys were dominant throughout the field showing huge hunger and workrate. Castlerea were not going to give up without a fight however and a very competitive 2nd period followed. A quick goal and 2pts from them in the early minutes after play resumed hinted at a major turnaround. The St Michael's-St Ronan's defence was severely tested from then on, but we're resolute. A wonderful breakaway team goal finished expertly by James O'Loghlin appeared to decide the contest, but was immediately cancelled by a Castlerea goal! Eventually a goal from Ryan Moran with five minutes left finished the game. Full-time: St Michael's-St Ronan's 4-6  Castlerea 2-3.

Well done to the panel of players who have improved so much over the league season and their dedicated coaches.
