St. Michaels Notes
19th December 2021
Under 20
It may have been the last Sunday before Christmas but St Michael's supporters still made their way to Orchard Park, Elphin to cheer on our Under 20s in their championship semi-final against St Faithleach's. The four week gap since our last game was very evident in the first quarter during which St Faithleach's opened up a daunting 11 point advantage. A pointed free just before the first water break got our lads off the mark, but trailing 2-5 to 1pt. The second quarter saw a spirited revival and the deficit at half-time was reduced to six, with the Ballyleague side leading by 2-7 to 1-4. St Michael's continued to carry the fight to their opponents throughout the second half and laid siege in their half for the last 10 minutes in search of the goals that would turn the scoreboard in our favour. One came, but it wasn't enough. Full time score: St Michael's 2-9 St Faithleach's 2-12. Commiserations to our players who showed great character throughout. They had an excellent campaign and many thanks goes to their management team: Neil Cox, Stephen McGuinness, David Noone and Alan O'Hara.
Panel and scorers: Luca Hill, Mark Heslin, Mark Reynolds, Alan O'Connor, Briain O'Dowd, Sean Moran, Rob Gillespie, Niall Sheerin, Andrew Tiernan (1-0), Colin Burke, Simon Burke (1-2), Jack Lane, Fiachra Henry (0-7), Cathal Guckian, Damien McGlynn, Harry Bruen, Kyle Keaveny, Liam Killoran, Glen Moore, Bryan O'Connor.
