Club Notes August 23rd 2020
Under 12 Boys
Well done to our u12 boys who completed
the group phase of the summer league with a hard-earned draw against
table-toppers Kilbride on Saturday last. The team have now qualified for the
Division 2 semi-final which is an excellent achievement for all concerned.
Under 14 Boys
Best of luck to our under 14 boys who
resume their Division 2 campaign on Monday 24th August at 7pm in Ardcarne Park
against Kilbride.
In another busy week, the u14 lads,
sponsored by McGuinness Centra, have a second game on Thursday evening away to
the Eire Og / Michael Glaveys combination.
Under 16 Boys
An unbeaten St Dominic's side were the
visitors to Cootehall on Monday evening last to take on our u16 boys sponsored
by Ardcarne Garden Centre. The league leaders made a confident start, had 2
goals on the board before the home team got off the mark, and held a 9 point
advantage at half-time leading by 3-6 to 1-3. Despite the deficit our boys
never dropped their heads. In the 2nd half they seized the initiative, kept the
scoreboard ticking over and set up an exciting finish, eventually falling short
by just two points. Full time: St Michael's 2-11 St Dominic's 3-10.
On Friday the boys took on a strong St
Faithleach's side in Ballyleague. In a tired display with many of the team
playing their 4th game in 10 days, the result was rarely in doubt. However our
lads never gave up trying and still recorded a respectable score of 1-11 with
limited possession.
Minor Boys
Good luck to our minor boys who eventually
have their first outing in the Division 2 championship on Tuesday evening
(25th) in Ardcarne Park against St Ciaran's.
Junior Men
Their next game is Sunday 6th
September, at 2pm in Ardcarne Park where they will play St. Brigids

the 3B final the following Tuesday 1st September. Best of luck to the team and

the winners of Kibride vs Michael Glaveys. This will be played on 3rd
September Best of luck to team Managers

Coaching
Any members who may be interested in coaching
should note that the online GAA foundation coaching course has reopened again
until 31st Aug. It can be taken in six 25 min modules. Feedback has been very
positive from those who have already undertaken the course. Contact Brian at
086 2397999 if you think you may be interested. New coaches are always
necessary and welcome.
*New
Covid-19 Restrictions:*
While the new Government restrictions on outdoor sports
(banning spectators from games and limiting training to pods of 15 including
coaches) are very disappointing from a sporting and social point of view, they
serve as a warning that Covid-19 remains a threat to society and that we must
continue to maintain all best practice protocols to ensure life is as normal as
possible.
One positive is that our players are still allowed to play.
To ensure that our games may continue, we ask all club members and supporters
to respect the new restrictions banning spectators until Sept 13th. We note
that, for underage games, one parent/guardian per player is allowed to attend
in a child welfare capacity.
Thanks to all for your support and co-operation.
