Dermot Cox RIP

A dark cloud has descended on St. Michaels GAA club with the word of the untimely passing of Dermot Cox. St. Michael’s Joint Club President and Trustee’s death has left a huge void particularly among his family, the club, community, county and surrounds.
Dermot was dedicated in all aspects of our club throughout his lifetime. He served as a player at all levels, with Scór teams, as a football manager down the years, Club Delegate to the County Board, member of Roscommon County Board’s Parks and Physical Development Committee and the Competitions Control Committee.
Dermot was the heartbeat and driving force when it came to our club grounds and facilities.  Everything involved Dermot.  He took great pride in the many development projects over the years. He was always a voice of reason and his practicality can be seen in the various features around the grounds. Dermot’s lifetime of tireless trojan work was brought with good humour, enthusiasm and energy.  His commitment to St.Michael’s has been unparalleled and his name proudly synonymous with St. Michaels through the years.
Dermot’s presence will be immensely missed through the absence of his encouraging distinctive voice, big smile and hearty infectious laugh. He was a friend to all in the club and loved having light-hearted banter with players and officials from different clubs from far and wide.
A loyal, passionate, highly regarded Roscommon GAA stalwart who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
His dedication and support to all organisations in the parish and surrounds will be never be forgotten.
The Cox family have devoted themselves to our club over the years for which we are truly grateful.
We extend our heartfelt sympathy to his beloved wife Anne; sons Darragh, Ronan, Neil and Diarmaid; sister Margaret; brothers John and Micky; daughters-in-law, his 12 grandchildren; brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and his many friends.
Ní bheidh a leithéid ann arís agus Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dilís
