Update 25/06/17

St. Michael's GAA Club annual golf classic will be held next weekend at Carrick-on-Shannon golf club. The format is a 3 ball scramble for great prizes and the cost is €90 per team. Tee times are available from 3.30pm on Friday upto 2.00pm on Saturday. To book contact Francis Dowd @ 086 8112337, Seamus Sweeney @ 086 8192524 or Conor Mc Loughlin @ 087 2313633.

We had a number of underage teams compete in the last week but without success. The under 14 boys lost at home to Kilmore/Shannon Gaels while the under 16 boys lost away to Ballinameen/Elphin on Sunday. The under 14 boys play away to Kilbride on Thursday in division 2 of the Summer league. Also on Sunday the under 12 boys lost to St. Faithleach's in the Spring league division 3 final at Hyde Park. Playing against a strong breeze in the first half took it's toll even though the sides were level at the break but it was Faithleach's that built up a lead in the second half although a galant performance from our young team saw them pull it back to lose out by 4 points in the end. Thanks to all the parents who supported the team and also to the team management.

Our under 12 girls were beaten in their 3 A Final championship on Sunday in Ballyleague. Thanks to all the girls who played with us the parents who brought the girls to training and games the management team Claire Noone, Stephen Mc Guinness and Thomas Morahan and a special mention goes to Niamh Sheerin for organising the refreshments afterwards.

Under 12 girls and management

The under 14 girls will play in the Summer league at home against St. Ciaran's on Wednesday at 7.30pm.  The under 10 and under 8 girls have a friendly game against Geevagh on Friday evening at home.

Our intermediate team play St. Barry's in the Tansey Cup at Ardcarne PArk next Sunday at 3.00pm.

SuperValu are running a new initiative with  local GAA clubs, including St Michael's. It's called Behind the Ball. It's geared at getting all under 8's active. The club could receive First Touch footballs for all under 8s. How does it work? Every time you spend €20 in Kelly's SuperValu, Boyle you will receive  a printed voucher to drop in the St Michael's Club entry box in Supervalu, Boyle. When 2000 vouchers have been collected the club is awarded the footballs. It's as simple as that!
