Weekly Update

Having entertained us throughout the Roscommon Intermediate Championship it all came to an end at the GAA gounds in Strokestown on Sunday last when St. Michaels were beaten by a better side in St. Aidans. Final Score; St Aidan's 2-12  St Michael's 2-05. St Michael's started the game badly and found themselves 1-01 down after six minutes. Paul Simon got St Michael's off the mark with a point from play and this was added to by a point by Ronan Martin. By the midway mark of the first half the scoreline read St Aidan's 1-01  St Michael's 0-02. For the next ten minutes, St Aidan's added 1--02, while Kevin McDermott responded with a point from play. James Reynolds struck goal on the half time mark, with St Aidan's adding two further points. Half time Score; St Aidan's 2-05  St Michael's 1-03. St Michael's started the second half well, first Niall Conlon narrowly missed a goal chance after twenty seconds but moments later Ronan Martin somehow managed to beat the Aidans keeper and scored our second goal. After five minutes of the second half, two points separated the sides. The next ten minutes, St Aidan's responed in style by scoring six points on the trot. Ronan Cox scored a free for St Michael's in this period and by the midway mark of the second half, the scoreline was St Aidan's 2-11  St Michael's 2-04. Both sides exchanged a point a piece in the last quarter, with the St Michael's score coming from the boot of Niall Conlon. The Club would like to thank all those involved in any way with the great display of colour and support for the team and to the large volume of supporters for getting behind the Team and travelling to Strokestown and making the County Final a colourful and most unforgettable event. Congratulations to St Aidan's and best wishes in the Connacht Intermediate Championship.
