St Michael’s offers support during Covid-19 outbreak
We expect that some, or many, in our community may wish to avoid towns, or may have to self-isolate or cocoon over the coming weeks in response to the Covid-19 outbreak and that this will create difficulties for them.
We want you to know that members of St Michael’s GAA Club are ready, willing and able to provide a helping hand if you need it. Whether it’s the collection and delivery of groceries / prescriptions / fuel etc, or some other chore, or simply a daily chat to ease the boredom of isolation, volunteers from St Michael’s are available to assist.
If you need help, please don’t hesitate to call one of our area leaders below, each of whom is supported by a small army of club members. Together, we are stronger and can overcome this difficulty.

Covid-19:
As everyone knows, all GAA activity has been cancelled until 29th March at the earliest. In the meantime, we urge all our members to keep healthy, active and positive. This difficulty will pass. We should abide by the guidelines issued by the experts and look out for our neighbours and those who may be vulnerable in our community.
A large number of St Michael's club members have volunteered to help anyone who needs to remain housebound at this time e.g. with collection of groceries, prescriptions, fuel or other necessities, or even just for a chat.  A list of local contacts will be circulated for each area shortly. Please do not hesitate to contact any club officer or your local area contacts if you require assistance.

St Michaels wish to thank Shane and Sandra and Roscommon LGFA for the smooth running of the blitz in terrible conditions, and for giving the team this wonderful opportunity.

The Club Support Programme
St Michaels have been selected to be one of four clubs in Roscommon to avail of a relatively new scheme, “The Club support programme”.
The programme endeavours, with the support of the county board, to build up very strong coaching systems throughout the club, with a view to being self sufficient up to and including adult level.

The County board will facilitate and support St Michaels throughout the year, in numerous ways. This CB support plan as well as our internal plan will be explored in a workshop with county board representatives, in St Michael’ s on the 11th March 7:30 to 9:30. It is really important we have as many there to contribute and be part of the overall coaching initiative.
It will be an invaluable opportunity for all stakeholders (officers, coaches, players, parents, supporters) to give their feedback and input into the future direction and development of the club.    -  Your chance to make a difference!

Minor Team
Our minor team, sponsored by Ardcarne Garden Centre, finally got their Division 2 league campaign underway when they travelled to Enfield on Sunday morning to play a strong Oran St Croan's combination.
Aided by a strong breeze, the home side were on the front foot for most of the 1st half and kicked many fine points from distance. Our boys worked hard to stay in touch and got some reward with a goal before half time following a fine team move which spanned the length of the pitch.

Trailing by 5 points at the break, the Ardcarne lads spent most of the 3rd quarter in their opponent's half but resilient home defence and some inaccurate shooting prevented us from getting back on level terms.
The home side stretched their lead in the closing minutes with a goal and a number of points to end up convincing winners on a 2-12 to 1-5 scoreline.

Sympathy
The Club wish to extend their sympathies on the untimely passing of referee Morgan Keena and to the Coughlan family, Corrigeenroe; former players, John, Brendan and Christopher Coughlan, on the death of their father, Christy.

Last Man Standing

We had 163 entrants unsuccessful in Round 4, leaving us with 7 entrants progressing to Round 5.
Round 5 commences on Saturday 7th March 12:30pm.
