Club Notes 05/08/18

Our U14s made the long trip to Ballyforan to take on St Aidans in the Division 3 championship. The two teams were evenly matched in the first half with the half time score reading St Michaels 1-6 St Aidans 2-4. Both teams traded scores in the second half and were level with 10 minutes to go. However, St Aidans got the match winning scores in the end and the game finished St Michaels 2-12 St Aidans 4-12. The U14s next game is against St Faithleachs away on 14th August.

Our Minor lads played a great derby game with our near neighbours Boyle on Thursday last in the Division 3 championship. After an even first half both sides were level at half time. Boyle started the 2nd half with a goal, however the St Michaels lads battled hard and were 3 points down with 10 mins left. A serious injury to one of our players changed the course of the game and Boyle finished the winners. St Michaels would like to thank Boyle GAA for their assistance during the game and wish our player a speedy recovery. The Minors next game is at home to Kilglass-Barrys on Thursday next.

On Sunday morning, we welcomed Roscommon Gaels to Ardcarne Park in the Division 2 U16 championship. The lads played well in the first half although a few missed chances meant we were down by 3 points at half time. We battled well in the 2nd half restricting the visitors to just a goal from play. Final score St Michaels 0-5 Roscommon Gaels 1-9.
