Club Notes 27/05/18


Our Senior lads recorded a great win over Creggs in Division 6 on Friday last. Their next Tansey Cup game has been fixed for next Sunday at 2pm in Cootehall vs Castlerea. Please come out and support the team

The under 14 girls had a good win against St Faithleachs in Ballyfarnon on Wednesday last.
Thanks to St Ronans for use of their pitch.
The girls will  play Kilglass away on Wednesday next in the 5th round of the league.

The under 12 girls are due to play Four Roads in their next championship game.
Congrats to Leah McCawley who played with Roscommon girls team at half time at the Roscommon vs Leitrim game on Saturday last in Carrick on Shannon.

Congratulations to our u16s who captured the Division 2 Shield by beating Strokestown in a titanic battle on Sunday last. The teams were level at half time on 1-6 each. The Michaels lads played a brilliant second half, taking great scores and with great teamwork won out in the end on a scoreline of St Michaels 4-13 Strokestown 3-12. Well done to all concerned. Our u12 Division 3 team played St Croans in the League final on Saturday last. This was a very entertaining game of football with some great scores by two talented sides. Our lads went in 3 points down at half time but they put in a great third quarter to get within a point of their opponents. However, St Croans finished the stronger to win the match. Our u12 Division 5 side made the long trip to Johnstown on Tuesday evening last to play Clan na Gael in the Shield semi-final. The lads played some great football, getting some lovely points but lost out in the end to the home side. 
Hard luck to both the Division 3 and Division 5 panels who put in a big effort for the Spring League and can now look forward to the Summer League.

Our u14s played Elphin Ballinameen in the Division 2 Shield semi-final on Thursday last. This was a great team performance by each member of the panel. A feature of the game was the great point scoring by St Michael's lads. We went in 2 points up at half time and the game was in the balance right up to the end with Elphin Ballinameen winning out on a scoreline of St Michaels 2-16 Elphin Ballinameen 7-5. Hard luck to the lads and best of luck to Elphin Ballinameen in the final.

Club Notes 20/05/2018


Under 12 girls were narrowly beaten by Strokestown in the 4th round of their Championship
They play Four Roads at home on the 4th June.

The U.14 girls received a walk over from Four Roads
They play St Faithleachs in Ballyfarnon on Wednesday 23rd of May at 7pm.

 Our U.12 Division 3 team finished top of their league and now play St Faithleachs or St Croans in the Summer League Final on Friday evening. Venue to be confirmed.

Our U.12 Division 5 team make the long trip to Johnstown on Tuesday evening to take on Clan na Gael in their Shield semi-final. 

On Sunday, our u16s play Strokestown in the final of the Division 2 Shield. Venue to be confirmed
Our U6/8/10’s played a hugely enjoyable blitz at home against Kilmore on Friday last, great to see the young members of the club getting experience in such an enjoyable way.

Club Notes 13/05/2018


History was made last Monday in Tarmonbarry, when our St Michael's U16 Girls from Ardcarne and Kilronan parishes joined together to beat Oran in a tightly contested U16 County final. This is the first time for our Ladies club to win a county title since its formation.  Congratulations and well done to the girls who showed fantastic skill and fight to get us over the finish line, it was heart stopping. There were major celebrations afterwards with a large following from both parishes who came out to support the girls. Many thanks to you all. A major congratulations go to their management team of Eddie Heslin. Harry Rynn. Joan Tiernan and Pat Mc Tiernan who with their guidance and support brought this team to this historic win. Thanks to St Michael's for treating the team to Supermacs afterwards, much appreciated. Thanks to the team sponsors Mc Guinness Centra and Timber County Wood Flooring. Thanks also to Aileen Daly for all her hard work and commitment to our Ladies Club.

 U. 10 & U.8 blitz at home this Friday  evening the 18th of May at 6 30pm. V Kilmore 

Our Division 3 u12 team had a busy week, playing away to St Faithleachs on Tuesday evening and to Tulsk at home on Saturday last. The team continued their fine form of recent weeks and emerged comfortable winners in both games. Panel L Kearns, E Smyth, C Regan, N Fahy, I Morahan, C Lee, D Regan, B Monaghan, R Henry, A Gaffney, C Gaffney, J Wickham, E O Connor, J Oates, A Oates, T Gilboy, B Dowd, B O Dowd, A Hanley, O Beirne, T Gilboy, R Guckian, S O Dowd. All of the panel have made huge progress since the start of the year and have now reached the Division 3 final. Details to be confirmed. Well done to players and coaches. 

Our u14s played Western Gaels away in the Division 2 League last Thursday. The lads put in a great effort and were in the game up to last quarter before the home side emerged as winners. They will now prepare for the Shield semi-final.

Our u16 boys team will play their Division 2 Shield semi-final next weekend at home, details to be confirmed.

Club notes 06/05/2018


Hard luck to our Junior Team who lost out today to Clan na Gael after a spirited team performance.

Our u12 Division 5 team lost out to Western Gaels on Friday last. Hard luck to all the lads. Team: Tom Robertson, Edward Clancy, Adam Gaffney, Joshua Wickham, Eoin O'Connor, Ronan Guckian, Tomas Gilboy, Cormac Lee, Cillian Gaffney, Aryan Hanley, Arran McDonagh, Brion Dowd, Alex Moore.

Under 14 girls received a walk over from Ballinameen in the first round of the league. They now play St Mary’s away on Wednesday.

Under 12 girls play Kilbride at home on Tuesday at 7 in the second round of the championship.

The under 16 girls which include girls from both Ardcarne and Kilronan parishes are in the Div 4 A county final on Monday 7th in Tarmonbarry at 7pm.

Congrats and well done to club players Gary Corcoran, Michael Noone and Sean Moran who were part of the Drumshanbo Vocational School volleyball team who were crowned All Ireland Junior Champions last week. 

Well done to Corrigeenroe NS, 5 aside girls team that won the Connacht 5 a side FAI Section A Girls School Competition.
