St
Michaels GAA Dinner Dance.
Well
what can I say to describe the night of the dinner dance. At a time when we are
all busy and caught up in work, family and a plethora of other distractions so
that often the most we might see each other is leaning over the fence or hiding
from the rain in the stand watching one of our teams play a match, it was a joy
to catch up with so many players, past and present, neighbours and friends who,
as the photos show, turned out in force to help us celebrate St Michaels winning
teams 25th and 40th anniversaries respectively. It was a
night filled with laughter and memories, old friendships and new and a bit of
friendly banter that showed that St Michaels really is at the heart of our
parish.
It
didn’t just happen by accident and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank
the organising committee of Eddie Heslin, Anthony Dowd, Seamus Sweeney, Shane
McGlynn, Geraldine McMorrow, Marie Heslin, Michael McGonigle and Niamh Sheerin.
We would like to thank our special guests for joining us on the night, Shane
Curran, Seamus and Myra Mullaney and Ian and Catherine Cooney. We want to thank
Joe Dolan and his wonderful staff who made the night so enjoyable, no request
was too much for them, Cakes by me for the lovely cupcakes, a sure talking
point, Moonstone Jewellers for the fabulous presentations. Dave Byrne who
played and ensured we all had sore feet the next morning and the hilarious Tierney
Talks who ensured we all had sore sides the next morning.
We
would also like to thank our sponsors whose support greatly enhanced the night.
Moonstones Jewellery, Carmel’s skincare and beauty, Joe Simons, King &
Moffit, Anthony & Angela Dowd, Pat Heslin, Ardcarne Garden Center, Beirnes
of Battlebridge, The Cottage Restaurant and Joan & Pat Tiernan.
Most
of all we would like to thank all who came out and supported the event, it was
a massive success due to the people who came and laughed and danced the night
away. Here is to continued success at St Michaels on and off the field and many
laughs together in the future.
