Update 3/7/16

The St. Michaels GAA Club annual Golf Classic fundraising event will be held at Carrick-on-Shannon golf club on Saturday 23rd July with a limited number of tee times available on Friday evening. Once again the format will be a three ball scramble at a cost of €90 per team. Book on line at www.carrickgolfclub.ie

St. Michaels GAA Club celebrates it's 75th anniversary this year. Plans are afoot to have a celebration on the first weekend in October. It is intended to collate a history of the club and it is in this regard that we invite members past and present to submit your memory or story of any aspect of the club for consideration. We would love to get any old documents, photographs or memorobilia such as club jerseys, medals, boots etc. All will be returned to the owners. Contact Michael Regan on 087 6181248 or Jenny Bruen on 087 6811655 for more information.

It was a busy week in the club with a number of teams fielding. The first of the week were the under 12s who had the honour of taking part in the Connacht GAA Go Games blitz in none other than Croke Park. The enormity of the occasion did not phase our players who got down to business from the first whistle. Thanks to Roscommon GAA and to the team management, players and parents.

On Wednesday the under 12 girls got the better of Shannon Gaels B in their semi-final clash. They will now meet St. Marys in the final in Kiltoom next Saturday at 4.00pm.

The under 10s had a good outing in the Go Games blitz in Frenchpark on Saturday where we fielded two teams. Thanks to Western Gaels for their hospitality and to all our parents for travelling.

Our under 12s played their first game in the Summer league in division 2 where they met Ballinameen/Elphin in Orchard Park on Saturday. It was a close encounter for the most of it but the home team rallied in the last quarter to win out.

The under 16 boys had a tight away contest in Frenchpark with Western Gaels winning out.

The intermediate team finished off our week on a high note when they beat Ballinameen in the Tansey Cup on a scoreline of 0-16 to 1-09 at Ardcarne Park on Sunday.

The under 15 girls play Boyle in the first round of the Sean Daly Memorial Cup in Boyle this Wednesday at 7.30pm.

There was no jackpot winner of the lotto last week. Denis Scanlon matched three numbers. The next draw will be in Tara Marina next Sunday night 10th July for a jackpot of €6,200 and Ann Cox's team are on duty.

Clothes collection continues and bags can be left at the Complex.

The club extends it's sympathy to the Mc Dermott and Lenehan families on their recent bereavements.
