Weekly Update

There is a Club meeting on Wednesday night at 9 o'clock sharp.

The clothes collection is coming to an end and bags of unwanted shoes, clothes, etc. can be dropped at complex any evening this week.
 
St. Michael's new style fleece lined jackets are currently available to buy , available sizes 13/14, small, medium, large and x large. For information or a fit please contact Nuala 086 3974566, the jackets can also be viewed on the blog.
 
Our U.8's had a very successful blitz on Saturday in Ballinlough, thanks to players and parents for travelling . Their final blitz of the year will be held in the Centre of Excellence, Ballyhaunis next Saturday, parents will be notified by text.
 
U.12's had a good 6 point away win to Oran on Sunday in what was a very exciting game. Their next game is away to St. Dominics next Sunday at 11.30.
 
The U.16's lost out to Elphin in the Championship on Monday last and they drew with St. Aidans on Sunday in Ardcarne Park. Having a very busy week they will play St. Ronans on Friday evening in Ardcarne Park at 7 pm and Kilglass/St. Barry's in Kilglass next Sunday.
 
LADIES FOOTBALL: The U.14 lost out narrowly to Eire Og in Loughglynn in the first round of the Championship on Sunday last. They play Michael Glaveys on Sunday next in Ardcarne Park. Training for U12 and U14 continues on Wednesday evening.
 
The U.10 girls are due to play Strokestown this week, parents will be notified by text.
Congratulations to Emma Benson who won gold in the Solo Music in the Community Games finals at the weekend.
St. Michaels is holding a family fun day on Saturday 6th September. Events on the day will include coaching, skills development and fun events for all ages up to 14. details of club merchandise will also be available. Further details to follow.
 
The lotto draw took place in the Bogside on Sunday 24th August, no.s drawn were 7, 13, 17 and 27. There was no jackpot winner ,1 match 3 winner John & Martina Burke, Knockvicar.
 
The Club wishes to extend its deepest sympathies to the family of the late Ali Gately, Corrigeenroe.

Weekly Update

The intermediate team were out in the final round of the championship on Sunday last in Tulsk against Eire Og. St. Michaels came out winners of what was an exciting game to watch, see match report for details.
Our U.10's had a very enjoyable blitz against Michael Glaveys on Saturday last. Thanks to all the parents who helped out on the day. The U.8's have a return blitz in Ballinlough next Saturday against Michael glaveys.
The U.12's were beaten by Boyle in the Keenan cup semi-final last Wednesday. Despite being beaten, the team played very well and competed right to the end.
They start the Co. Division 2 autumn league Monday evening V Roscommon Gaels in Ardcarne Park. 
 
U.16's play Elphin in the Championship Monday evening in Elphin.
Well done to Diarmuid Regan and Seamus Blackwell who played for Roscommon Co. U14's V Sligo on Saturday last in Ballyhaunis.

Well done to the Roscommon Ladies Team who overcame Longford on Saturday last after extra-time to reach the TG4 All Ireland Intermediate Semifinals.

Congratulations to Francis & Agnes Dowd on the birth of their baby boy.

Weekly Update

Last weekend, It was back to Round 2 of the Hodson Bay Hotel Group Roscommon Intermediate Football Championship, where St Michael's took on St Dominic's in Knockcroghery on Saturday, the 9th of August 2014. In dry conditions, St Dominic's got off to a great start with a goal after one and  a half minutes into the game. Alan O Hara hit St Michael's first point from a free after seven minutes. with twenty minutes gone, two points from play from Paul Simon and Niall Conlon had been cancelled out by two point from play and One free from St Dominic's. Then St Dominic's scored their second goal of the game, to leave the scoreline St Dominic's 2-03 St Michael's 0-03, with fifteen minutes to play. Niall Conlon had a goal bound shot rebound of the crossbar in the twenty first minute. Niall Conlon then score a free. In the twenty fourth minute, St Michael's were awarded a penalty, where Niall Conlon was pulled back in the square. Francis King took the penalty only for Mark Miley, the St Dominic's goalkeeper to save it had the result of a point. Niall Conlon added a further point from play. This was cancelled out by a point from play from St Dominic's. On the struck of half time, the St Dominic's goalkeeper Mark Miley again saved a certain goal from St Michael's, to leave the half time score St Dominic's 2-04  St Michael's 0-06. St Dominic's started the second half well, with two points from play and one from a free after five minutes of the restart. A Niall Conlon free and a point from play from Alan O Hara, left the scoreline reading St Dominic's 2-07 St Michael's 0-08 after ten minutes played. For the next fifteen minutes St Dominic's won this game, with three point from frees and one point from play, with St Michael's only score in this period coming from a Niall Conlon Free. For the lasted five minutes St Michael's try hard with two frees from Niall Conlon and a point from play from Darren Colon, But time ran out. Final Score St Dominic's 2-11 St Michael's 0-12. This weekend all roads lead to Tulsk on Sunday next, the 17th of August 2014 where St Michael's play their final group game of the Hodson Bay Hotel Group Roscommon Intermediate Championship against Eire Og at 2.00pm. On the underage front this week, the U12 have busy week. First the play against Boyle in the Keenan Cup Semi final in Boyle on Wednesday next, the 13th of August 2014 at 8.00pm. This was achieved by good wins over Eire Og and Kilmore in the last week. Then they play against Roscommon Gael on Sunday next, the 17th of August 2014 at 11.30am at Ardcarne Park in the first round of the Div 2 U12 Autumn League. St Michael's host an U10 Blitz game on Saturday next, the 16th of August 2014 against Michael Glaveys. Training will continue for all underage players during the week. Players will be notify by text.
On the Ladies Football front, Under 12/14 training on Monday and Wednesday evening. The 
first round in the championship is at Ardcarne Park on Sunday next, the 17th of August 2014 against Shannon Gaels. Under 8/10 training on Wednesday evening from 7pm to 8pm at Ardcarne Park. The next under 8/10 match is on week beginning the 18th August 2014.
The St Michael's GAA Club Lotto Draw was held on Sunday night last, the 10th of August 2014 in Beirnes of Battlebridge for a Jackpot of E 1400.00. The number drawn were 5, 6, 9, 14. There was no Jackpot winner or no match three winners. Five lucky dips E 20 each were, Michael Wynne, London, Rita Meehan, Cootehall, Martin Prendergast, Athlone, Aideen Lambe, Carrickmacross and Kevin Regan, Boyle. The next draw is in the Bogside Inn, Derreenadooey on Sunday, the 24th of August 2014 for a Jackpot of E 1500.00.
The Club would like to Congratulate Ronan Martin, who married Michelle Farley on Friday last, the 8th of August 2014 in Rathlee Church, Enniscrone.
The Club extends its condolences to the Sharkey family, Cuilmore Cove, the O Connor Family, Lurga, the Griffen family, Ballyarden and the Mc Govern family, Drumore on their recent bereavements.

Weekly Update

The U.14's were in the Championship semi-final against St. Croans in Enfield on Sunday last. In a very entertaining game St. Michael's were up by a point at half time , however St Croans came back stronger in the second half winning by 4pts, final score was St. Croans 3 08 to St. Michael's 2 07. Well done to the team and management of Michael Regan, Clive Gillespie, Ronan Harney and Clive Gillespie (Jnr). Team was : S. Blackwell, A. McGlynn, A. Tiernan, O. O'Dowd, J. Doherty, M. Heslin, M. Reynolds, D. Regan, A. Hanley, R. Gillespie, F. Henry. Subs A. O'Connor, D. McHugh and D. McGlynn.
Ladies: Our U.10's played Boyle last Monday in Ardcarne Park in what was a very entertaining and successful game for them. Training continues on Monday evenings for U.12 and U.14's. U.14 are due to play Shannon Gaels in the first round of the Championship on the 17th August.

Best of luck to the Roscommon Ladies who play Offaly in Ardagh on Saturday next at 2pm.
The Lotto Draw was held in the Moorings on Sunday 27th July, there was no jackpot winner, 5 X E20 winners were Ray Woods, Aisling & Clara Malone, Nathan Doherty, Padraig Harte and Diarmuid, Lorcan & Cormac Regan. Next draw will be in Beirnes of Battlebridge for a jackpot of E1,400.

The Intermediate Team lost out by a single point to Michael Glaveys at Ballinlough on Monday. They play St. Dominics in the second round of the Championship on Saturday evening the 9th August at 7.30 in Knockcroghery. Please come out to support the team.
