Last weekend, It was back to Round 2 of the Hodson Bay Hotel Group Roscommon Intermediate Football Championship, where St Michael's took on St Dominic's in Knockcroghery on Saturday, the 9th of August 2014. In dry conditions, St Dominic's got off to a great start with a goal after one and a half minutes into the game. Alan O Hara hit St Michael's first point from a free after seven minutes. with twenty minutes gone, two points from play from Paul Simon and Niall Conlon had been cancelled out by two point from play and One free from St Dominic's. Then St Dominic's scored their second goal of the game, to leave the scoreline St Dominic's 2-03 St Michael's 0-03, with fifteen minutes to play. Niall Conlon had a goal bound shot rebound of the crossbar in the twenty first minute. Niall Conlon then score a free. In the twenty fourth minute, St Michael's were awarded a penalty, where Niall Conlon was pulled back in the square. Francis King took the penalty only for Mark Miley, the St Dominic's goalkeeper to save it had the result of a point. Niall Conlon added a further point from play. This was cancelled out by a point from play from St Dominic's. On the struck of half time, the St Dominic's goalkeeper Mark Miley again saved a certain goal from St Michael's, to leave the half time score St Dominic's 2-04 St Michael's 0-06. St Dominic's started the second half well, with two points from play and one from a free after five minutes of the restart. A Niall Conlon free and a point from play from Alan O Hara, left the scoreline reading St Dominic's 2-07 St Michael's 0-08 after ten minutes played. For the next fifteen minutes St Dominic's won this game, with three point from frees and one point from play, with St Michael's only score in this period coming from a Niall Conlon Free. For the lasted five minutes St Michael's try hard with two frees from Niall Conlon and a point from play from Darren Colon, But time ran out. Final Score St Dominic's 2-11 St Michael's 0-12. This weekend all roads lead to Tulsk on Sunday next, the 17th of August 2014 where St Michael's play their final group game of the Hodson Bay Hotel Group Roscommon Intermediate Championship against Eire Og at 2.00pm. On the underage front this week, the U12 have busy week. First the play against Boyle in the Keenan Cup Semi final in Boyle on Wednesday next, the 13th of August 2014 at 8.00pm. This was achieved by good wins over Eire Og and Kilmore in the last week. Then they play against Roscommon Gael on Sunday next, the 17th of August 2014 at 11.30am at Ardcarne Park in the first round of the Div 2 U12 Autumn League. St Michael's host an U10 Blitz game on Saturday next, the 16th of August 2014 against Michael Glaveys. Training will continue for all underage players during the week. Players will be notify by text.
On the Ladies Football front, Under 12/14 training on Monday and Wednesday evening. The
first round in the championship is at Ardcarne Park on Sunday next, the 17th of August 2014 against Shannon Gaels. Under 8/10 training on Wednesday evening from 7pm to 8pm at Ardcarne Park. The next under 8/10 match is on week beginning the 18th August 2014.
The St Michael's GAA Club Lotto Draw was held on Sunday night last, the 10th of August 2014 in Beirnes of Battlebridge for a Jackpot of E 1400.00. The number drawn were 5, 6, 9, 14. There was no Jackpot winner or no match three winners. Five lucky dips E 20 each were, Michael Wynne, London, Rita Meehan, Cootehall, Martin Prendergast, Athlone, Aideen Lambe, Carrickmacross and Kevin Regan, Boyle. The next draw is in the Bogside Inn, Derreenadooey on Sunday, the 24th of August 2014 for a Jackpot of E 1500.00.
The Club would like to Congratulate Ronan Martin, who married Michelle Farley on Friday last, the 8th of August 2014 in Rathlee Church, Enniscrone.
The Club extends its condolences to the Sharkey family, Cuilmore Cove, the O Connor Family, Lurga, the Griffen family, Ballyarden and the Mc Govern family, Drumore on their recent bereavements.
