Roscommon declare May 4 as 'Rossie Day'

26 April 2012
Roscommon have decided to designate Friday 4 May as 'Rossie Day' following their county's qualification for the Cadbury All-Ireland U21FC final.

The footballers face Dublin in the final at Tullamore on Sunday 6 May and plans are in place to get huge support behind Nigel Dineen's men.

The county board has asked all people in the county to wear their colours, put up a flag or bunting and make a donation of €2 to the Roscommon U21 training fund.

"An All-Ireland Final appearance by a Roscommon team is a special occasion and we feel it is an event worth celebrating," said Roscommon GAA County Board Chairman Michael Fahey.

"To mark this memorable time for all associated with the GAA in the county we are designating Friday, May 4 to be 'Rossie Day'. Lets colour the county Yellow and Blue."

All schools have been asked to get involved and two lucky schools will receive coaching sessions conducted by the Roscommon footballers.

To get involved Roscommon fans can email rossieday@gaaroscommon.ie.
