It was a sad week for the Club, on hearing of the passing of Micheál Higgins, Cloongrehan, Cootehall. Micheál was the Club's Referee for many years and while not a popular job, Micheál was always fair in his decisions and let the game flow. The Club extends its condolences to his wife; Ann, sons; Martin, Noel and Gabriel ( Club Player), daughter; Teresa, son in law; John, brothers; Sean, Hubert, Brendan and Peter, sister; Kathleen and his large family, relatives and his many friends. The Club also extends its condolences to Childrens Officer; Mary Kearns and family, on the death of her father, Jack Gildea, Derrynine and also to his son Sean and family and to his other daughter Martina and family and to his relatives and his many friends. May they both rest in peace.
The Intermediate Team were defeated by one point to Tulsk in O Gara Cup League on Sunday last the 22nd of April 2012 at Ardcarne Park. They will play St Barry's on Friday evening next 27th of April 2012 in Tarmonbarry in the O Gara Cup at 7.15pm
The Junior Team take on Elphin in the Div 4 League on Saturday next 28th of April 2012 in Ardcarne Park at 6.00pm.
The Minor Team play Kilglass Gaels in Kilglass on Sunday next the 29th of April 2012 in the Minor Div 3 League at 12.00pm.
The U12 Girls Team were defeated by Kilmore in Group D in Kilmore. They play Strokestown in Strokestown on Wednesday next 25th of April 2012 at 7.00pm. Please support all Teams.
A Club Meeting will take place on Tuesday next 24th of April at 9.00pm in the Ardcarne Park Sports Complex.
The St Michael's GAA Club Annual Golf Classic will take place at Carrick on Shannon Golf Club on Saturday the 5th of May 2012. Great prizes on offer on the day and presentation of these prizes is at the Club Presentation Function in Killronan Castle on the next night. Limited Tee Times available on Friday evening. Entry fee is €120 for a Team of 4. Contact John Moffatt, Seamus Sweeney, Geraldine Farry, Niall Roche, or any Club Officer for further information.
The St Michael's GAA Club Presentation Function will be held on Sunday night, the 6th of May 2012 at 8.30pm in Killronan Castle. Music on the night and a Buffet Supper will be served on the night. Tickets are now on sale through out the Club's catchment area or from any Club Officer at a price of €20. A good night of fun and craic is guaranteed.
The Lotto draw was held in The Bogside Inn, Derrynadooey on Sunday the 22nd of April 2012, for a jackpot of €4,400.00. The numbers drawn were 2, 13, 18, 28. There was no winner, One match 3 winners, €100; Michael Regan, Derrynine, Crossna. The next draw is in Beirnes of Battlebridge on Monday 7th of May 2012, for a jackpot of €4,500.00.
Congratulations to the Roscommon U21 Team, who defeated Cavan in the All Ireland Semi - Final on Saturday last the 21st of April 2012 in Pearse Park, Longford. They now play Dublin in the All Ireland U21 Football Final on the May bank holiday weekend. With this success, funding is important and with the County Board launching its Roscommon GAA Members Draw 2012, where the local Club also benefits if the Club target is reached. With 33 cash prizes over three draws, Tickets are now available from the Club at €100. By supporting this draw you are supporting you Club and County. First draw is on the 11th of May 2012.
Congratulations to the members from the Club's catchment area who were part of the Shannon Gaels U14 Ladies Team, who won the County Feile Competition and now go on to represent Roscommon in the Feile Competition.
Well done to Katie Daly, who is part of the  Roscommon U14 Ladies Team, who defeated Leitrim on Saturday last the 21st of April 2012 in Croghan. Katie score 1-03 on the day. They now have qualified for the Connacht A Final with one match against Mayo left.
