Club Notes July 26^th 2020

Under 12s

Our under 12 boys opened their campaign in Division 2 with a victory over our neighbours from Boyle in a competitive and entertaining contest at Ardcarne Park on Saturday morning. Their next outing is on Saturday 1st August in Elphin against Elphin-Ballinameen.

Under 14s
Our under 14s, 16s and minor boys have continued their championship preparations with a number of useful challenge games in recent weeks. Best of luck to the under 16 lads in their 1st round game against St Aidan's in Ballyforan on Bank Holiday Monday next at 7pm.

Ardcarne Park
Ardcarne Park hosted the first round Intermediate Championship game between Shannon Gaels and Ballinameen on Sunday last. Many thanks to all the volunteers who assisted with the preparation of the club grounds in advance of the game and with stewarding on the day. It is very much appreciated.

LGFA

A busy week back on the field with lots ahead for the next week.

Under 16 girls were beaten by a stronger St Croans team,  they play Michael Glaveys away on Tuesday evening.

 The under 14 team were beaten by Strokestown,  they play Michael Glaveys at home on Thursday.

 The under 12 won their first game by beating Kilbride they play Michael's at home on Sunday next.

The Junior girls were beaten by Oran in their first game they play Roscommon Gaels away next Sunday at 11.

St Michaels Lotto

Our Club lotto draw was held on July 26^th with a jackpot of €2,200.

The numbers drawn were 20, 25, 26, 29. (Awaiting Resutls)

 We have moved to online and tickets can be purchased from https://www.lottoraiser.ie/StMichaels/   Your support as always is greatly appreciated. The next draw will be held on August 9^th and the jackpot is €2,300

Championship Tickets

While we continue to hope for change in guidance, at present we will only have max of 50 tickets on offer to club members for our first championship outing against St Ronan’s.
As such we have decided as an executive that all interested names will be placed in a lottery for these tickets.
Please let Niamh Sheerin 0868816935 or Kevin Guckian  086 832 8337 know by text if you have a genuine interest in going to the match by Wednesday 29^th July. We will do the draw on Thursday.
This draw is only open to adult paid members of the club. We appreciate many of our supporters will be disappointed including ourselves but can only operate within the guidelines laid down by the GAA.
There is only admittance by paid ticket for man, woman or child! Tickets are not transferable. All Tickets cost €10, must be collected and paid for Friday evening. There are no concessions available as per GAA.

Club Notes July 19^th 2020

LGFA

 The Under 12 girls played a challenge game on Saturday last vs Shannon Gaels they play another challenge game on Tuesday next against Boyle. Their first league game is on Sunday next at 6pm away to Kilbride. 

The Under 14 girls played a challenge game last Wednesday against Eastern Harps they play their first championship game on Thursday next at 7.30 in Ballyfarnon 

The under 16 girls played a challenge game on Saturday vs Shamrock Gaels and they play their first Championship game vs St Croans away on Tuesday evening at 7.30 

The Junior girls play their first championship game  Sunday the 26th away to Oran.

Last Man Standing Winner!

Congratulations to Kevin Ward pictured being presented with a cheque for €1000 as a result of winning the 'Last Man Standing' competition organised by the St Michael's senior squad.

Academy Training is in Ardcarne Park on Friday 24^th at 6.30pm and from Monday 20^th from Under 10s and Under 8s.

Academy Training

Academy Training returns to Ardcarne Park on Friday 17^th at 6.30pm and from Monday 20^th for Under 10s and Under 8s.

Thank you to the Oakport Residents who allowed us use the green for the last two weeks.

Registration will take place at the pitch on Friday 17^th.

 

LGFA

The Under 14 girls have a challenge game on Wednesday evening in Ballyfarnan.

Registration fees are now due for all LGFA members and there will be an opportunity to pay these at all training sessions during the week.

Club Notes July 5^th 2020

Thank you!

A big thanks to all our club members and friends who helped out at the drainage and development works on our grounds. Over 40 volunteers gave generously of their time over a three-week period. Thanks also to those who assisted at the grass cutting and clean up. The club is very grateful to all. 

Minor Club

We welcomed the safe return to activity of our underage players from u8 to u18 last week. It was fantastic to see the hugely positive response of all our coaches, our players and their parents and guardians to the GAA's return to play protocols. The enthusiasm shown by all participants was heart-warming and this was nowhere more evident than when our u8 and u10 Academy players returned to action on the green in Cootehall on Friday evening. The village echoed to the cheerful sound of children having a ball with a ball. The club extends their appreciation to the residents’ committee for the use of the green.

 LGFA

The Junior Ladies enjoyed a challenges with St Michaels, Ballygawley/Ballintogher on Sunday. It was great to see them back out on the field!
