Update 12/11/17

Under 12 team & management

It was smiles all round for our under 12's and their entourage as team captain Niall Mc Glynn raised the Division 4 Summer league shield at Kilronan Park in Ballyfarnon on Saturday last. This was a final which almost fell victim to Friday night's heavy rain as the original venue of the Abbey Park in Boyle was withdrawn but John O'Connor and Grainne Wallace at St. Ronan's pulled out all the stops to have their pitch available and prepared in a very short time. Thank you to John and Grainne and all at St. Ronan's. It was a very competitive and entertaining encounter with Éire Óg fighting through to the final whistle but thankfully it was the St. Michael's team who finished on top. Well done to the team, management and parents and thanks to all who helped out at the celebrations in the Complex.

The St. Michael's/St. Ronan's under 20's turned around a 4 point half time deficit to win by 8 points in their face off with Kilglass/St. Barry's at Kilglass on Sunday.

Well done to those involved in the Northern Region Under 13 boys development squad training session which was hosted by St. Michael's at Ardcarne Park on Sunday morning.

Tickets for the St. Michael's GAA Club Super Fuel & Holiday draw are now on sale. With extra prizes this year for just €2, winners are in with a chance of having a break on the Shannon, going to the Algarve, going to a Manchester United game or staying in a Castle while others may set their hopes on winning the timber, heating oil, briquettes or turf. The draw will take place in Clancy's of Knockvicar on 17th December.

There was no winner of the club lotto draw which was held in Henry's, Cootehall on 12/11/17. Congratulations to lucky dip winners: Maurice Carty, Keith O'Hara, Stephen Mc Guinness, Anna Butler, Margaret O'Neill. Next draw will be on the 26/11/17 for a jackpot of €2,300.

The Club extends sympathy to the Mc Kenny family, Cleaheen on their recent bereavement.

Update 5/11/17

Under 14 girls and management before their Division 4A final

In a close knit division 4A final which went down to the wire, it was in the last 5 minutes that the St. Michael's under 14 girls lost at Strokestown on Sunday. Each member of the panel should be applauded as they represented their club, families and themselves with great pride and respect. Gratitude goes to the players and management team of Stephen Mc Guinness, Joan Tiernan and Clare Noone and also to the parents and families for their commitment. A big thank you also goes to the under 14 team sponsors of Stephen Mc Guinness of Mc Guinness's Centra, Sligo and to Pat Tiernan of Timber County Wood Flooring.

Also on Sunday our minor girls were narrowly beaten by Western Gaels. Thanks to the players and to the management team of Sorcha Bruen, Katie Daly, Clive Gillespie, Michael McHugh and Eamonn Owens. Thanks also to the parents.

The combined St. Michael's/St. Ronan's under 20 boys lost out to Éire Óg at Ardcarne Park on Saturday.

Tickets are now on sale for the St. Michael's GAA Club Holiday & Fuel Draw which is even bigger and better than before, more details next week.

St. Michael's GAA Club AGM will take place on Sunday 3rd December at 2.00pm.

There was no club lotto jackpot winner of the draw held in the Bogside Inn last Sunday. Numbers drawn were 15,20,27,29. Joe Simon and Tom Martin both matched 3 numbers. Next draw will be in Henry's, Cootehall on 12th November for a jackpot of €2,200.
