Update 30/10/16


Tickets for the Monster Fuel and Holiday draw are now being circulated to club members and are available for purchase. Once again we are deeply grateful to our sponsors who have remained loyal to us and which allows us offer great prizes for as little as €2 per line. Prizes include firewood, a boat holiday on the Shannon, heating oil, coal, briquettes and more. Below picture displays the prizes on offer and the draw will take place in Tara Marina on 10th December.    
 

Well done to all our young members who competed in Scór na bPáistí last week. We had two ballad groups, Amy Tiernan, Neil Fahy, Chloe McGuinness, Hannah Keaveney & Cathal Guckian came 3rd. The other group was Ellen Oates,Niamh Reynolds, Aoibhe Morahan, Ellen Daly & Tomás Gilboy. Chloe McGuinness came 1st in the solo singing and Ellen Oates came 3rd. Ellen Daly also gave a great performance in the recitation and the music group of Niamh Reynolds and Cathal Guckian came 2nd. Many thanks to mentor Anne Marie Harte and to Fiona Reynolds who assisted. Picture of the performers below.
 

The St. Michaels GAA Club Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday 27th November at 2pm.

The club extends sympathy to the Regan family, Derrynadooey and the family of the late Frank Dennehy, President of Roscommon County Board.

Update 23/10/16

Good luck to all who are going to take part in Scór na bPáistí on Friday 28th in Elphin. We will have competitors in the ballad group, music group and solo singing.

Update 16/10/16

Well done to the three clubs who took part in the St. Michaels under 16 ladies tournament on Saturday at Ardcarne Park. The final between St. Michaels and Allen Gaels ended in a draw and now goes to a replay.

Good luck to all who are going to take part in Scór na bPáistí on the 22nd in Lecarrow and the 28th in Elphin. We will have competitors in the ballad group, music group and solo singing.

The under 6s/8s and 10s brought their season to a close with a good training session on Sunday. Well done to all players and parents throughout the year, the future for St. Michaels is bright. Thanks to all who provided and served the refreshments on Sunday.

There was no winner of the club lotto which was held on Sunday last. Congratulations to Niall & John Flynn who both matched 3 numbers. The numbers drawn were 2,11,15 and 29. The jackpot is now €6,900 and the next draw will be on Sunday night in Beirnes of Battlebridge.

Update 9/10/16

St Michaels ladies hosted the first ever St Michaels under 12 mini tournament on Saturday 8th in Ardcarne Park. Thanks to visiting teams Ballinameen,  Kiltubrid and Allen gaels.   Allen gaels were the shield winners on the day and St Michaels under 12 girls were runners up. Thanks to all parents who helped out on the day and special thanks to Stephen McGuninnes for sponsoring the shield,  to Joan Tiernan, Clare Noone and Thomas Morahan for coordinating the competition, Mary Kearns, Hillary McCawley and Claire Keavaney for the catering on the day. Special thanks to our referees, Eddie Heslin and Patrick Mc Tiernan. We hope to make this an annual event. Picture shows the winning team from Allen Gaels.

Our under 12s had a very enjoyable day out in Clonguish on Saturday in the Shane Brennan Cup tournament bowing out to Gortletteragh in the semi-final. Thanks to all the parents who travelled and a special thanks to Clonguish GAA club for the invitation. The under 12s play Tulsk in the Keenan Cup on Monday evening at 7pm under lights in Kilbride.

Our under 14 boys play Western Gaels in the Garda Cup next Sunday morning in Frenchpark.

There will be a Club meeting on Wednesday night at 9.00pm, all club members are welcome to attend.

The Club extends sympathy to the Daly family, Cootehall, to the Martin families, Cootehall and Crossna, to the Hennessy family, Keadue on their recent bereavements.

Update 2/10/16

As Club Chairperson, Jenny Bruen wishes to thank all who helped make our 75th anniversary celebrations a successful, historic and memorable weekend. The celebrations kicked off with a social function at Ardcarne Park Complex on Saturday night. Our book, 'St. Michael's GAA Club - A Glance at Our Past' was launched and can now be purchased in Henry's, Cootehall or from Jenny Bruen or Nuala O'Hara for €12. On Sunday we had a very successful fun and skills day for our underage players followed by the unveiling of a special plaque in memory of the late Jim Henry and the late Mícheál Bruen whose vision and commitment has helped lead the club to where it is today . The Club dressing rooms were then officially opened by Roscommon GAA county secretary, Brian Carroll followed by a tree planting ceremony by Mícheál Shivnan. Pictures below.

Our under 10s were beaten in the semi-final of the Kevin Hanly Cup by the eventual winners, Shannon Gaels. Once again the club wishes to thank Kilglass Gaels for their wonderful hospitality.

St. Michaels GAA ladies are hosting an under 12 ladies tournament on Saturday 8th October at Ardcarne Park. This end of season competition will see teams from St. Michaels, Ballinameen, Allen Gaels and Kiltubrid compete. First throw in is at 11am.
