Weekly Update

The Intermediate Team play their final O Gara Cup League game of 2012 against Éire Óg on Sunday next, the 2nd of September 2012 at Ardcarne Park at 1.30pm. The draw for the Quarter Finals of the Intermediate Championship will take place in two weeks time. On Saturday last, the 25th of August 2012, in the Third Round of the Roscommon Junior A Championship, the St Michael's Junior Team  were heavily defeated by St Croan's in Ardcarne Park. This defeat ends our participation in the Junior A Championship.

The U18 Team were defeated by Shannon Gaels in the Special Minor League on Sunday last, the 26th of August 2012 in Croghan. The U18 Team play St Ronan's in the First Round of the Div 3 Championship on Wednesday next, the 29th of August 2012 in Ballyfarnon at 7.00pm.

The U12 Team started their Div 4 Summer League with an away defeat against St Domonic's on Sunday in Knockcroghery. They play Ballinameen on Sunday next, the 2nd of September 2012 in Ardcarne Park at 11.30am. 

Training continues for Intermediate, Junior, Minors, U14s and U12 Boys during the week. Training for U10s, U8s and U6s on Friday next, the 31st of August 2012 at 7.00pm. Training for U21 players started this week, as U21 Championship is to start in mid September.

The Lotto Draw is in Donnellan's Bar, Cleen, Knockvicar, on Sunday next, the 2nd of September 2012, for a jackpot of €5,300.00.

Weekly Update

The St Michael's Intermediate Team finish the group stages on top of Group A, in the Roscommon Intermediate Championship. On Saturday last they drew against Clann na nGael in a dry, but windy Ardcarne Park. St Michael's had the strong breeze in the first half and led at half time, 1-07 to 0-03. The St Michael's goal was scored by Ronan Martin. In the second half Clan na nGael worked their way back into the game by the mid mark of the second half, the St Michael's forwards should have the game wrapped up with two great goal chances missed and point affords dropping into the the Clan na nGael goalkeeper's hands. With the game now in injury time and St Michael's having a three point lead, Clan Na nGael were awarded a free. As the Referee looked to be going to book a St Michael's player for the foul, the free was taking short and then finish to the St Michael's net and a goal awarded. The final whistle was sounded by the Referee from the kick out. Final Score St Michael's 1-10  Clan na n Gael 1-10.  This result put the Team into the Quarter Finals of the Intermediate Championship. A draw will take place in the next few weeks to finalise the Quarter final matches. On Saturday next, the 25th of August 2012, in the Third Round of the Roscommon Junior A Championship, the St Michael's Junior Team  play St Croan's in Ardcarne Park at 6.30pm. The U18 Team play Shannon Gaels again in the Special Minor League on Thursday next, the 23rd of August 2012 in Croghan at 7.30pm. 

The U14 Team defeated Kilglass Gael's in the Div 4 Championship on Thursday last, the 16th of August 2012 at Drumod.

The U16 Team did not field against Kilglass Gael's in their final Div 4 Championship game on Friday last, the 17th of August 2012 at Annaduff. 

The U12 Team start their Div 4 Winter League against St Dominic's on Sunday next, the 26th of August 2012 in Knockcroghery at 11.30am.

The Lotto draw was held in Clancy's Bar, Cleen, Knockvicar on Sunday, the 19th of August 2012, for a jackpot of  €5,200.00. The numbers drawn were 3, 4, 8, 21. There was no winner, Two match 3 winner, €50 each; John King, Knockvicar and John P O Dowd, Cootehall. The next draw is in Donnellan's Bar, Cleen, Knockvicar, on Sunday, the 2nd of September 2012, for a jackpot of €5,300.00.

The Club extends its condolences to the Mc Dermott Family, Knockvicar on the death of Louie Ward (RIP), Behy, Boyle and to the Lavin Family, Lisserdrea, Boyle on the death of Eoin Lavin (RIP), Lisserdrea, Boyle.

Weekly Update

On Saturday last, the 11th of August 2012, the St Michael's Intermediate Team recorded a good away win in the Second Round of the Roscommon Intermediate Championship against St Brigid's in a sunny Kiltoom, on a scoreline of St Michael's 2-10  St Brigid's 1-10. St Michael's had the strong breeze in the first half and lead at half time on a scoreline of St Michael's 1-06  St Brigid's 0-04. The St Michael's goal was scored by Austin Duignan. In the second half St Brigid's took the lead with a goal with five minutes of the game remaining, to leave two point between the sides. A free from Ronan Cox and a long range point from Derek Mc Guinness, leveled the game. With the game now in injury time and a draw looking like the result, Liam Conlon connected onto a ground ball and found the corner of the St Brigid's net, to give St Michael's victory. This result almost guarantee the Team of reaching the Quarter Finals of the Intermediate Championship with Round Three to play. On Saturday next, the 18th of August 2012, in the Third Round of the Roscommon Intermediate Championship, the St Michael's Intermediate Team play against Clann na nGael in Ardcarne Park at 7.00pm. Please support the Team.

The Junior Team play St Croan's in the Final Round of the Junior 'A' Championship in Ardcarne Park at the end of August.

The Lotto draw was held in Beirnes of Battlebridge on Monday, the 6th of August 2012, for a jackpot of  €5,100.00. The numbers drawn were 2, 3, 20, 28. There was no winner, Two match 3 winner, €50 each; Conor King, Knockvicar and Joe Brady. The next draw is in Donnellan's Bar, Cleen, Knockvicar, on Sunday, the 19th of August 2012, for a jackpot of €5,200.00.

The Club would like to thank all the people who purchased tickets and attended the Club Ros Comain Race Day on Tuesday, the 7th of August at Roscommon Race Course. This was a County Board Fundraiser and by all accounts an enjoyable time was had by all. The final 2012 Roscommon GAA Members Draw took place at the Club Ros Comain Race Day. The Club had a winner in the draw. Congratulations to Paddy O Regan, Cootehall, who won €1,000.00 in the Roscommon GAA Members Draw. Once again a big thank you to all who purchased a ticket for these Draws.  

Congratulations to Club Player John Brennan, who got married to Deirdre Martin on Thursday last, the 9th of August 2012 in Crossna.  

Hard luck to Sorcha Bruen and the Roscommon Minor Ladies Team, who were defeated by Clare in the All Ireland 'B' Final on Monday, the 6th of August 2012 in Birr and to the Roscommon Minor Team, who were defeated by Kerry in the Quater Finals of the All Ireland Minor Championship at Croke Park on Sunday, the 5th of August 2012. 

Well done to Laura Reynolds, Eslin, who finish in 20th position in the Women 20 km Race Walk at the 2012 Olympics in London on Saturday last, the 11th of August 2012 .

The Club extends its condolences to the Keavney Family, Castletennison Demesne on the death of James Keavney (RIP).

On Saturday next, the 11th of August 2012, all roads lead to Kiltoom for the Second Round of the Roscommon Intermediate Championship, where the Intermediate Team play against St Brigid's at 5.30pm. A win here would guarantee the Team of reaching the Quarter Finals of the Intermediate Championship. Please support the Team.

The Junior Team were defeated by Padraig Pearse's in the Second Round of the Junior 'A' Championship at Dr Hyde Park, Roscommon on Saturday last, the 4th of August 2012. Final Score Padraig Pearse's 4-06  St Michael's 2-08. They play St Croan's in the Final Round of the Junior 'A' Championship at the end of August. 

The U18 Team received a walkover from Eire Og in the Special Minor League on Tuesday last, the 31st of July 2012.

The U14 Team play St Ronan's in the Div 4 Championship on Thursday next, the 9th of August 2012 at Ardcarne Park at 7.30pm.

The U16 Team played Ballinameen in the Div 4 Championship  on Monday last, the 6th of August 2012 at Ardcarne Park. More details next week.

Roscommon GAA Evening at the Races

The first Roscommon GAA “Evening at the Races” takes place on Tuesday August 7^th, at Roscommon Racecourse. It promises to be a great evening of entertainment and tickets, priced at €25, include Admission to the Course, Race Card, €10 free bet, access to Reserved Marquee and Finger Food.

The first Race is scheduled for 5:45pm with the last at 8:45pm and there'll be plenty of action in between, including the last of the 2012 Roscommon GAA Members Draws.

The Intermediate Team defeated St Brigid's on Tuesday last, the 24th of July 2012 in the O Gara Cup League at Ardcarne Park. This result left the Team in mid table on 10 points, with one game to play against Eire Og in the League. 

On Saturday next, the 4th of August 2012, The Junior Team play Padraig Pearses in their Second Round of the Junior A Championship in Rockfield, Oran at 7.00pm. 

The U18 Team play Eire Og in their first game of the Special Minor League on Tuesday next, the 31st of July 2012 at Ardcarne Park at 8.15pm.

The U14 Team play Kilglass Gaels in the Div 4 Championship on Thursday next, the 2nd of August 2012 at Ardcarne Park at 7.30pm.

St Michael's GAA Club have 40 tickets to sell for the event. Tickets cost €25 each. Tickets covers; Admission to Racecourse, Free Race Card, Free €10 Betting Voucher and a Draw for numerous Valuable Prizes, which includes holidays, All Ireland Tickets and lots more. Entertainment in Montelado Bar afterwards. Transport is provided to and from the event on a first come first served bases from Ardcarne Park.
